Two LI Kids Inappropriately Touched By Day Care Employee, Cops Say
A Long Island day care employee inappropriately touched two young children on the job, police said.
Asia Oliver, 27, of Hempstead, was arrested Thursday night, Aug. 13 for touching two juvenile males at Learn and Play Center in Baldwin, the Nassau County Police Department said.
The incident occurred Wednesday, July 1 around 12 p.m. at the day care, according to investigators. Oliver was charged with first- and second-degree sexual abuse, along with two counts of child endangerment, police said.

Sleeping Child Thrown Onto Walmart Parking Lot Pavement: Police
A sleeping child was thrown onto the pavement outside a Lancaster County Walmart, leading to a man's arrest, police announced on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Justin Martin Wagner, 41, of Lancaster, was arrested following the incident at the Walmart at 890 East Main St. in Ephrata Township at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, according to the Ephrata Police Department.
Wagner had been causing a disturbance inside the store before witnesses saw him take a sleeping child from a shopping cart, lift the child into the air, and throw the child onto the pavement in the parking lot, police said.

Alberto Gomez, 48, of Boca Raton, FL, used a Queens-based accounting practice to carry out the brazen scheme, the Justice Department said Monday, Aug. 10.

More than 41,000 baby jumpers and swings have been recalled after dozens of reported injuries.
Taleco Gear issued the recall for about 41,100 G Taleco Gear Baby Jumpers, Baby Swings, and 2-in-1 Baby Jumper & Swings, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, Aug. 13. About 150 were also sold in Canada.
The jumpers and swings can become unstable, creating fall and impact dangers. Hanging restraint straps and seat openings can also pose a risk of strangulation.

A Long Island business lost $11,000 to a thieving former employee writing fake checks, police said Thursday, Aug. 13.
Leeanna Luke, 25, of Brooklyn, swiped $11,828.13 from Ralph’s Italian Ices in Melville by forging and depositing 15 checks into her personal account, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
The owner of the dessert shop noticed multiple unauthorized transactions on his bank account for checks to Luke, a former employee, investigators said. After cops looked into the case, they arrested Luke on Thursday around 7:15 a.m., according to police.

An elderly person and 20 dogs were rescued from inhumane conditions at a home in New York, police said.
The dogs were living in feces- and urine-filled cages with insufficient ventilation, New York State Police said Thursday, Aug. 13. Additionally, the dogs did not have immediate access to food or water, authorities said.
