A New York man admitted he was drunk while underage, speeding, and ran a red light before crashing into and killing a police officer as she drove to work, prosecutors announced on Thursday, June 11.

A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle on a busy Capital Region roadway.
The Schenectady County crash happened just before 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, on Troy-Schenectady Road near Algonquin Road in Niskayuna, according to police.
Christopher Reith, 25, of Latham, was riding a motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Reith was transported to Ellis Hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead, police said.

A head-on crash between a passenger bus and a car left a woman seriously injured in Tobyhanna Township, police announced on Monday, Sept. 15.
The collision happened at the intersection of State Route 940 and the Interstate 380 northbound on-ramp at 11:01 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, according to Pocono Mountain Regional Police.

Pedestrian Struck, Killed On NY Thruway: State Police
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Thruway in Rotterdam, New York, state police announced on Sunday, Aug. 24.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes just west of exit 25 (I-890) around 8:50 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, according to a New York State Police Troop G.
The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was declared dead at the scene, troopers explained.
All westbound lanes were closed during the investigation, including collision reconstruction, until about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the road was reopened, authorities said.

An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed after striking a sedan and colliding with two pedestrians on State Route 9L in Queensbury, New York, on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, State Police announced on Monday.
Investigators determined that a sedan traveling southbound on Route 9L was turning left into a business when the motorcycle, operated by Austin L. Pagan of Queensbury, attempted to pass it on the left and struck the vehicle, according to police.

A crash involving a tour van and pickup truck near Yellowstone National Park has resulted in at least seven fatalities and eight injuries.
The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in eastern Idaho, along Highway 20.
Six passengers and the driver of the van, which was carrying 14 people, died in the crash, according to Idaho State Police.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
