A fugitive wanted in Orange County on multiple rape and sexual abuse charges has been captured in the Philippines and returned to face prosecution, authorities announced. On Friday, Aug. 29, the New Windsor Police Department, working with the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and international law enforcement partners, arrested 46-year-old Dominic Mamaat upon his arrival at JFK Airport in Queens, the department said. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering suspending habeas corpus—the right a person has to challenge their detention in court—ABC News reports.
