Hudson Valley Man Killed When Juvenile Backing Vehicle Into Driveway Runs Over Him, Police Say This story has been updated. A Hudson Valley man was killed when a juvenile backing an SUV into a driveway accelerated and hit the victim. The incident occurred in Orange County at 8:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the village of Kiryas Joel in the town of Monroe. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 13-year-old was backing a 2024 Honda Odyssey into the driveway of a residence. 5 Nabbed On Gun Charges In Hudson Valley During Traffic Stop, Police Say Five residents in the region, including three juveniles, were nabbed on alleged gun charges during a routine traffic stop.  The incident occurred in Orange County around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, on I-84 in Deerpark. According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Orange County resident Jaykris Vargas, age 23, of Middletown. Hudson Valley Juvenile Nabbed For Making 'Non-Specific' School Threat, Police Say A juvenile was charged with allegedly making a threat of mass harm after the FBI alerted the New York State Police of a school threat made in the region on TikTok. The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Wappinger. Trooper AJ Hicks said an investigation determined the "non-specific threat originated from the town of Wappinger.  Investigators located and arrested the minor soon after, Hicks said.
