Three Kayakers Rescued At Long Island Park
Officers rescued three people after their kayaks overturned at a state park on Long Island. Officers on Marine Juliette responded to Captree State Park in Bay Shore on Monday, Aug. 16 after receiving a report of kayakers in the water at about 3:10 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department. SCPD said a 55-year-old Farmingville man's kayak capsized near a dock. Long Island Woman Found Dead In Apparent Drowning, Police Say
An investigation is underway after the drowning death of a woman on Long Island. Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers responded to the Great South Bay, off of Venetian Boulevard in Lindenhurst, at approximately 1:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24 after a 911 call reported a person floating in the water. Vita LaValle, 58, of North Babylon, was found unresponsive and pulled from the water by a Good Samaritan in a boat. Five In Disabled Boat Rescued Off Long Island Coast
Five boaters on Long Island were rescued just in the nick of time by Suffolk County Police after their vessel became disabled with a storm rapidly approaching them. While responding to an unrelated call, Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers spotted an emergency flare go off at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3 in the Great South Bay off Fire Island Pines. Police said that at the time the flare went off, there was a storm squall approaching, bringing lightning and wind gusts of up to 30 mph, putting the boaters in added danger. Woman Rescued After Falling Off Floating Port Jefferson Marina Dock
Three Suffolk County Marine Bureau officers rescued a woman who fell off a floating dock in Port Jefferson. Officers John Falcone, John Rodriguez, and Neil Stringer had just disembarked from Marine Delta when they saw a woman lose her footing and fall into the water while attempting to set up a ramp between a boat and the floating dock at the Port Jefferson Marina at 1:08 p.m., Friday, Oct 4, said the Suffolk County Police.
