Heavy rainfall in the region has forced the Suffolk County Health Department to close more than 50 Long Island beaches due to excessive bacteria levels. Four beaches are closed to bathing on Long Island due to high bacteria levels found in the water, according to health officials. Residents should not go in the water at Benjamin's Memorial Beach in Bay Shore, Amityville Village Beach, Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Lake Ronkonkoma-Islip Town Beach in Suffolk County. No Bathing Advisory Issued For 63 Suffolk County Beaches Expected To Be Lifted Saturday
Due to recent heavy rainfall, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services has issued an advisory against bathing at 63 beaches.
