Hudson Valley Child Rapist Heading To Prison After Jury Trial
A 32-year-old man from the region will spend 56 years in prison after being found guilty of child rape. Ulster County resident Charles Burgher, of Highland, was sentenced Friday, Dec. 9 to state prison followed by 15 years post-release supervision. According to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Burgher was convicted of five counts of rape and three counts of criminal sexual act following a four-day jury trial in October. Hudson Valley Man Who Killed Friend For 'Talking Trash' Sentenced To Prison
A man from the region has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing his best friend by shooting him in the back of the head while he was in the area from California visiting his mother. Ulster County resident Gregory Thayer, age 50, of the town of Ulster was sentenced on Wednesday, Oct. 25 to 25 years for manslaughter and 15 years for criminal possession of a weapon. 9 Teens Cause $30K In Damage To Hudson Valley Business, Police Say
Nine teens were nabbed for the burglary of an office building causing more than $30,000 in damages. The incident happened in Ulster County on Monday, May 1 in the town of Ulster at the I Park 87 property (former IBM campus) on Enterprise Drive. The teens, all from Dutchess County, ranging in age from 17 to 19, were arrested over the past week by the Ulster Police following a month-long investigation, said Chief Kyle S. Hudson Valley Woman Accused Of Stealing Dead Person's Debit Card
A woman in the region has been charged with allegedly stealing a dead person's debit card and using it to make purchases. The incident took place in Dec. 2021 in Ulster County in Kingston. Sarah M. Schatzel, age 34, of Kingston, was arrested on Monday, May 9, following an investigation into a complaint, said Chief of Saugerties Police Joseph Sinagra.
