A New York State Trooper has been suspended without pay following his arrest for an alleged robbery in the region. The arrest occurred in Sullivan County in the village of Liberty on Tuesday, Aug. 13, for an incident in 2023. A woman has been charged after a 2-year-old died in a hot car in the region. On Tuesday, July 16 at approximately 6:45 p.m. in Sullivan County, police responded to a 911 call of a child left in a vehicle at the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex in Monticello. Upon arrival, officers located a 2-year-old boy in a 2012 Ford Explorer suffering from cardiac arrest, New York State Police said. A health department in the region has confirmed that a fox has tested positive for the rabies virus. The fox, which was euthanized, was found in Sullivan County in the town of Bethel, said officials with the Sullivan County Department of Public Health.
