A 13-year-old from the region has been charged with falsely reporting an incident after allegedly making a social media post stating that a mistaken lockdown at the school they attend was due to students and staff being harmed. Scammer Caught Red-Handed With $36K Taken From Woman From Region, Police Say
A man was captured in the region after allegedly scamming a woman out of $36,000. The incident occurred in Sullivan County on Wednesday, May 1 in the village of Liberty. According to Chief Steven D'Agata of the Liberty Police, the department received a call from a 76-year-old resident who said the money had been taken from her as part of an elaborate scam. Woman From Region Nabbed With 3 Guns On School Grounds, Police Say
A woman from the region was allegedly nabbed with three handguns she had on a high school campus, according to police. Sullivan County resident Amanda Jones, age 38, of Monticello, was arrested by the Village of Liberty Police on Thursday, March 7. According to Chief Steven D'Agata of the Liberty Police, the investigation began when Jones was found to have three handguns during a traffic stop. Woman From Region Charged With Making A Threat Of Mass Harm Against School
A woman from the region has been charged with allegedly making a threat of mass harm after she threatened to blow up a middle school. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 5:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22 in the village of Liberty. Sex Offender From Region Nabbed For Failing To Register, Police Say
A sex offender from the region is behind bars after allegedly failing to register under state law. Sullivan County resident Pedro Correa, age 57, of the village of Liberty was charged on Monday, Dec. 11, during a routine check of sex offenders in the area. Man Accused Of Brutally Beating Puppy To Death In Region
A man has been accused of brutally beating a puppy, leading to its death in the region. Police in Sullivan County arrested Miguel Colon, age 34, of the Village of Liberty, after an investigation into the death of the 4-month-old pit bull. Liberty Police Department officers began investigating after receiving a report that the puppy had been killed by an individual in the village, police said.
