Here's Brand-New Father's Day Forecast, Outlook Leading Into First Day Of Summer
Have outdoor plans for Father's Day on Sunday, June 18? There's some good news. It's now looking better than earlier forecasts indicated. It will be dry throughout the day and good to go for those plans, with partly to mostly sunny skies and a high temperature in the mid to upper 70s, according to the National Weather Service. Spotty showers and scattered storms are possible for the region amid the arrival of an unsettled weather pattern before a change in time for Father's Day. Saturday, June 17 will be mostly cloudy throughout the day with widespread haze arriving in the early afternoon and lasting into the early evening, according to the National Weather Service. Line Of Storms, Some Severe, Sweeping Through Region
A line of thunderstorms, some severe, is sweeping through the region from west to east. Storm activity first began in northern New Jersey at around 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 16. As of around 2:30 p.m., most of the more powerful storms have been in areas farthest south, with showers falling throughout much of the entire region. (See the satellite image above.) The arrival of an unsettled weather pattern will bring new rounds of showers and scattered storms in the next few days. Friday, June 16 will start off dry with hazy skies as elevated smoke from Canadian wildfires returns mainly in areas farther south, according to the National Weather Service. A stretch of unseasonable, below-average temperatures will last through the long weekend before a change in the weather pattern arrives just as summer officially starts.
