Severe Heat, High Humidity Will Pose Significant Health Risk To NYers, Hochul Warns Gov. Kathy Hochul is warnig New Yorkers that severe heat and high humidity will pose a significant health risk from Monday, July 15, through Wednesday, July 17. Temperatures during that stretch are likely to bring dangerous heat indexes between 95 and 104 degrees across the entire state.  New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley, and Southern Tier, also have a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms in the afternoon into the evening on Monday. First Heat Wave Of Summer Set To Scorch Region: Here's How Long It Will Last Dangerous extreme heat from the Midwest will start to spread East, with the first heat wave of the summer set to scorch the region.A heat wave is defined as three straight days in which the high temperature hits 90 degrees or above. High temperatures on Wednesday, July 26 will generally be in the upper 80s to around the 90-degree mark with hazy sunshine most of the day, the National Weather Service says. New Round Of Storms On Track For Region Amid Scorching Heat: Here's Latest Projected Timing A brand-new round of severe thunderstorms is on track for the region amid what could be one of the hottest stretches of extreme heat in years. The time frame for the latest storm is on Thursday, July 21 from the mid-afternoon to the early evening, according to the National Weather Service. (See the image above.)
