School Shelters In Place After Fleeing Driver Crashes In Bergen County: Police A 29-year-old Hasbrouck Heights man was arrested Friday, Jan. 3 after fleeing from police and crashing a Mercedes SUV into a utility pole near an elementary school, police said. Officer John Mullins was patrolling near Hasbrouck Heights High School around 12:27 p.m. when he spotted a driver later identified as Joel Ventura in a blue Mercedes SUV making an improper turn, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt.
