Indictment: DWI Driver Ran Stop Sign In Fatal Paterson Crash
UPDATE: A Newark man was standing outside his car following a crash in Paterson when a drunk driver who ran a stop sign struck and killed him while injuring two others, an indictment charges.
Alvin Mootoo, 49, of Orlando, Florida, has remained free since he was originally charged in the Jan. 2, 2019 crash at 18th Avenue and East 24th Street.
Authorities at the time said Mootoo’s Buick struck two cars, both Accords, that had stopped following another accident.

A New Jersey woman is facing 12 to 24 years behind bars for driving drunk into oncoming traffic on Interstate 95 in Pennsylvania leaving three people dead, authorities said.
Priscilla Cortez, 34, of Camden, was heading southbound on the highway when she struck a car carrying Ryan Connell, 28, Leanne Popson, 35, both of the Levittown area, and Lucas Gelatko, 36, of Yardley, near mile marker 33 around 1:40 a.m. April 1, 2020, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office.
All three victims in the Bensalem crash had children, authorities said.

DWI Motorist From Rockland Drives Wrong Way On Route 208, Oakland PD Says
A Rockland woman was drunk when she drove the wrong way on Route 208, police in Oakland said.
Marie Heller, 61, of Nanuet had driven her 2003 Honda Pilot north in the southbound lanes shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday, Lt. Christian Eldridge said.
Somehow, it didn't hit anything.
Officer Michael Griffin, responding to a call from the Oakland First Aid Squad, stopped Heller after she tried getting onto Route 287, he said.

Mahwah Motorist, 22, Charged With DWI After River Vale Crash
A Mahwah driver was drunk when his vehicle barreled onto the lawn of a River Vale home and landed on top of a large rock, police said.
Responding officers found the front of the vehicle lodged on the rock and bushes in the Rolling Hill Drive homeowner's front yard shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Detective Sgt. Jared Arcidiacono said.
The driver, Tyler Ramirez, 22, had gotten out and wasn't injured, Arcidiacono said.
