Tractor-Trailer Tips Across Route 17
A tractor-trailer tipped across the entire southbound side of Route 17 early Saturday, closing the highway coming down from Route 287. The rig ran up the grassy curb outside Jack Daniels Porsche in Upper Saddle River, took down a sign and pitched onto its side, leaving it lying across both shoulders and all three lanes, shortly before midnight April 29. The road remained closed while heavy-duty wreckers from Big Tows righted the rig. Chicken Waste Spill Causes HazMat Situation Along South Jersey Highway
A trailer hauling chicken waste products crashed, spilling its contents all over Route 55 and causing a HazMat situation in Gloucester County on Monday, Feb. 27. The northbound side of the roadway was closed in Deptford from mile marker 59.2 to the Route 42 interchange following the 9 a.m. crash. The roadway had reopened as of 1:45 p.m., but crews were still on scene for cleanup. HazMat crews, the New Jersey State Police, NJDOT, and multiple fire departments were on scene. Environmental services were notified and were monitoring the incident. No injuries were reported.

A dump truck crash that took down wires closed Route 3 in both directions for hours Wednesday, Feb. 1 in Secaucus, authorities confirmed. The highway was expected to reopen at 2 p.m., following the morning rush hour incident, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Two people were seriously hurt in a five-car crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Hudson County on Friday, Dec. 9, authorities said. People packed themselves into NY Penn Station Tuesday, Aug. 23 due to a disabled train in Secaucus. 65 Cars Involved In Icy Crashes On Major NJ Roadway
At least 65 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes on a major ice-covered road in Central Jersey, authorities said. The crashes were blamed on black ice which often forms at dawn and dusk, according to the Monmouth County sheriff. The first chain-reaction crash occurred at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday on Route 36 westbound at the Route 18 ramp, according to Eatontown police. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Toyota Friday afternoon while walking on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County, authorities said. The fatal crash occurred at 2:12 p.m. in a northbound lane of the parkway in Toms River, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. Dump Truck Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Through Route 287 Barrier Into Backyard
A dump truck driver was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries after crashing through a sound barrier wall on Route 287 and into the backyard of a Bridgewater home Thursday afternoon, New Jersey State Police said. The right lane of the northbound side of the highway was closed after the 1:25 p.m. crash near milepost 17.6, Sgt. Lawrence Peele said. The driver lost control before he went through the wall and into the backyard of a Woodlawn Avenue home, Peele said. No other injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation. Serious Crash Jams Garden State Parkway In Union County
A serious crash closed the southbound side of the Garden State Parkway in Union County Monday afternoon. A vehicle went off the roadway at Exit 135 to Central Avenue in Clark around 4:15 p.m., 511nj.org reports. A medevac was requested to the scene and one entrapment was reported, initial reports show.
