Drivers crossing the new Tappan Zee Bridge will soon face a higher toll, according to the New York State Thruway Authority. The increase will go into effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, with a 50-cent hike to the base NY E-ZPass toll rates and tolls-by-mail that began in 2024 and will continue each year through 2027, when it hits $7.75. Two separate crashes closed multiple lanes of Route 80 during rush hour Tuesday evening, Nov. 4. One crash took out two right lanes on the westbound side around 4:50 east of Exit 56 in West Paterson, the DOT site shows. The other happened around the same time in the eastbound lanes west of Exit 52 in Fairfield. Two right lanes were also closed. Both crashes caused a delay of approximately 10 minutes.
