Poughkeepsie Murder Victim Remembered As Family Man, Athletic Standout
Nakia Bruton 42, of Poughkeepsie, died on Thursday, Sept. 14, after being stabbed by his girlfriend on Winnikee Avenue.
Born on Nov. 24, 1974, in Poughkeepsie, Bruton was the son of Gwen Pearson and the late Willie Bruton.
The father of four children, Bruton's life was centered on spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing all sports, but he excelled in soccer.

Deborah L. Spaun, 47, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, Sept. 17, surrounded by her family.
Born in West Hempstead on Long Island, on Feb. 21, 1970, she was the daughter of Margaret Crisci-Haag and the late Joseph Edwin Haag.
A Westchester native, Spaun and her husband, Gregory Spaun, moved to LaGrange 10 years ago and became involved in the community.
