Boy, 8, Hit By Jeep On Passaic Street An 8-year-old boy was hospitalized with bumps and bruises after being struck by a Jeep in Passaic early Wednesday evening, authorities said. No summonses were issued to the driver of the Wrangler, which hit the boy on Brook Avenue near the corner of Mineral Spring Avenue around 5:30 p.m., police said. Hatzolah EMS of Passaic Clifton took him to St. Joseph's Regional Hospital, they said, adding that the injuries weren't serious.

Lyndhurst PD: Pedestrian From Wallington Struck After Stepping Out Between Cars A Wallington woman was injured in Lyndhurst when she stepped out between two parked cars barely a dozen feet from a crosswalk and was sideswiped by a passing vehicle, authorities said. The 30-year-old pedestrian was taken to University Hospital in Newark with facial injuries after being clipped in front of a Stuyvesant Avenue beauty salon just after 1 p.m., Lyndhurst Police Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said. Police didn't issue any summonses to the North Arlington driver, who remained at the scene and wasn't at fault, he said.

Woman, 79, Hit By Car In Mountainside Dies A 79-year-old woman from Mountainside was killed Thursday night when she was struck by a car, police said.  The woman, who was not immediately identified, was crossing at Summit Road and Wyoming Drive shortly after 7 p.m. when she was hit by a Honda Civic. She was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, a 27-year-old woman from Lebanon, stopped and remained at the intersection.  Summit Road was closed for four hours for the initial investigation. The investigation was still ongoing as of Friday morning.

Pedestrian, 77, Struck In Englewood By 84-Year-Old SUV Driver Sustains Head Injury A 77-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized with a severe head injury after she was struck by an SUV driven by an 84-year-old motorist in Englewood late Tuesday afternoon. Officers Adolfo Gutierrez and Dona Nidelko began rendering aid to the victim, who was struck just before 5 p.m. at West Palisade Avenue and Cottage Place, Deputy Police Chief Gregory Halstead said. They were relieved by EMS personnel, who took her to Hackensack Medical Center, the deputy chief said. The SUV driver remained at the scene and wasn’t charged – although Halstead noted that the investigation was continuing.
