JCP&L Will Trim Trees Along 3,400 Miles Of Power Lines To Reduce Outages Jersey Central Power & Light is planning to trim trees to protect more than 3,400 miles of power lines across the Garden State, officials said. JCP&L will clear trees as part of a $32.5 million plan to prevent power outages during severe weather, the company said in a news release on Wednesday, Apr. 10. At 6:30 p.m., a Volkswagen passenger vehicle ran off the roadway while traveling on the highway in Kingwood Township and then struck the utility pole, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.  There were no injuries reported and the crash remains under investigation.
