Jersey City Firefighters Battle Two Blazes In Brutal Cold, Wind, One Injured: Authorities
It was a long night for firefighters in Jersey City with multiple fires and harrowing conditions, authorities said.
At 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, firefighters responded to a working fire to 203 Harrison Ave, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. The fire was in the second floor ceiling with extension into the third floor, Wallace-Scalfione said.

17-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Jersey City Shooting: Prosecutor
A 17-year-old has been charged with fatally shooting a 20-year-old in Jersey City on Friday, Jan. 3, authorities said.
At 8:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road on reports of gunfire, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Officers found Rahmiere Morris, 20, with a gunshot wound to his torso, Suarez said.
Morris was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m., Suarez said.

Two men were arrested and charged with fencing stolen automobile parts on Friday, Jan. 3, following an undercover investigation by Secaucus police, authorities said.
On Monday, Dec. 30, officers responded to the 500 block of New County Road on a report of an abandoned vehicle, Secaucus police said. When officers arrived, they located a 2015 Honda CRV missing its bumper, passenger side door and headlights, police said. New Jersey skies are tightening up yet again. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has clipped the wings of drone operators in nine more towns, expanding its already hefty "No Drone Zone" list.
The FAA’s move, announced Monday, Dec. 30, comes in response to a spate of drone sightings near "critical New Jersey infrastructure," as previously reported by Daily Voice.

Two Teens Possessed Drugs, Guns: Bayonne PD
A 19-year-old Jersey City resident and an 18-year-old Bayonne resident were arrested and charged on Sunday, Dec. 22 after they were found to be in possession of drugs and guns in Bayonne, authorities said.
At 5:45 p.m., officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at 32nd Street and Broadway, Bayonne police said. During the investigation, the driver, Tyrone Johnson, a Jersey City resident, was found to be in possession of a partially loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a large capacity magazine, police said.

Some people attending SantaCon 2024 in Hoboken, including several from out of state, couldn't help but end up on the naughty list.
Hoboken police said eight people were arrested at the annual event on Saturday, Dec. 21, where people dress up as Santa Claus for a bar crawl, a spinoff of the popular event held every year in New York City (scroll down for details).

A 33-year-old Jersey City man was charged on Thursday, Dec. 19 with shooting rival gang members, authorities said.
Micah Reid is a member of the Rutgers neighborhood street gang which operates in Triangle Park in Jersey City, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said.
On Sunday, Oct. 1, 2003, Reid, driving a stolen vehicle, shot at members and associates of rival street gangs who were exiting a nightclub on Culver Avenue in Jersey City, Sellinger said.

A New Jersey magazine and newspaper distributor will be paying nearly $300,000 in back wages and penalties after misclassifying employees as independent contractors, authorities said.
The New Jersey Department of Labor began investigating NJ Penn, which has offices in Jersey City, and determined that between 2018 and 2022, NJ Penn misclassified at least 105 newspaper delivery, warehouse, and other workers as independent contractors instead of employees, in violation of New Jersey law, the New Jersey Attorney General's Office said.

Five of the victims in a fiery Newark crash that killed six people earlier this month have been identified, authorities said.
At 10:47 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, a vehicle carrying six people was traveling on Raymond Boulevard toward the Route 1&9 southbound on-ramp, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said. A 32-year-old Jersey City man pleaded guilty in Newark federal court on Monday, Dec. 9 to committing four robberies and two shootings, all in the same evening, authorities said.
On Nov. 14, 2021, Rodney Williams robbed a store in Jersey City at gunpoint, US Attorney Phillip Sellinger said. Soon after, Williams, accompanied by Siobhan Chandler, demanded money from a gas station, Sellinger said.
