Cops Use GPS To Find Stolen Car, Four Teens Arrested: Summit PD
A GPS tracker helped police in Summit locate a stolen vehicle on Monday, Feb. 3, leading to the arrest of four teenagers, authorities said.
At 4:45 p.m., a 2022 Range Rover was reported stolen from a parking garage in downtown Summit, police said. Officers used the Range Rover's GPS system to monitor its movements, police said.
At 7 p.m., the vehicle was discovered at Pine Street in Elizabeth, occupied by five people, police said. As the officers approached, the five suspects exited the vehicle and ran, police said.

A 26-year-old Jersey City man was arrested in Florida on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and charged with a fatal shooting that occurred last year, authorities said.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, at 11:20 p.m., Jersey City police responded to a shooting on Fairview Avenue between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue, and found Dushawn Bell, a 34-year-old Elizabeth resident, with a gunshot wound, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he died of his injuries, Suarez said.

Drones Banned Over Another 9 NJ Towns: Here's Where
New Jersey skies are tightening up yet again. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has clipped the wings of drone operators in nine more towns, expanding its already hefty "No Drone Zone" list.
The FAA’s move, announced Monday, Dec. 30, comes in response to a spate of drone sightings near "critical New Jersey infrastructure," as previously reported by Daily Voice.

18-Year-Old, Two Juveniles Arrested For Fatal Newark Shooting: Police
An 18-year-old Newark resident and two juveniles were arrested on Thursday, Dec. 5 for a fatal shooting on Sunday, Dec. 1, authorities said.
Wes Thalerand, an 18-year-old Elizabeth resident, was shot and killed while seated in his vehicle at the intersection of Mapes Terrace and Huntington Terrace, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
Zaire Kelly and the two juveniles were charged with murder in the first degree, felony murder, robbery and weapons offenses, Stephens and Miranda said.

President-elect Donald Trump has named New Jersey's Charles Kushner to serve as the United States Ambassador to France, he announced Saturday, Nov. 30.
Kushner, 70, an Elizabeth native, is the father of Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and was pardoned by Trump in 2020, having been convicted years earlier of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering.

Man At Large After Stabbing Newark Resident Outside Bowling Alley: Police
A 25-year-old Newark man was stabbed outside a bowling alley in Linden on Friday, Nov. 8, authorities said.
At 6:10 p.m., officers responded to Linden Lanes at 741 N. Stiles St. and found the victim, Linden police said in a release. The man had been involved in an argument with a co-worker, Easkon Walker, a 44-year-old Elizabeth man, police said. Walker pulled a knife and stabbed him multiple times before fleeing the scene, police said.
The victim was treated on scene and taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Two-Month-Old Dies In Elizabeth: Authorities
A two-month-old infant died in Elizabeth on Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said.
Police responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at Pingry Place, a spokeswoman for the city said. Both parents were working, and their eldest child was watching his younger siblings, including the infant, when the infant had a medical emergency, authorities said.
The infant was pronounced dead at Trinitas Hospital, authorities said.
The Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified, authorities said. No foul play was suspected and the incident remains under investigation, authorities said.
