Talk about a happy tail. A French bulldog named Klipse who went tumbling 40 feet down a cliff at Palisades Interstate Park was rescued by Port Authority Police officers on Tuesday morning July 30, PAPD spokeswoman Lenis Valens said. Four Kittens Abandoned At Plainfield Humane Society
The Plainfield Area Human Society are attempting to locate the person who abandoned four kittens on Wednesday, April 24 At 5:55 a.m., security footage showed the person abandoning the four gray and white kittens on the front porch of the Plainfield Area Humane Society. Staff brought the kittens in, described as "scared and cold", the Plainfield Area Humane Society said. The kittens were placed on a heating pad and fed breakfast, the Plainfield Area Humane Society said. The feline trio were the only ones home when the three-alarm blaze ignited at the front of the nearly 100-year-old wood-frame house on 5th Street off Morlot Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. A smoky house fire in Passaic went to four alarms the day after Christmas. No injuries were immediately reported in the blaze, which ignited in a Van Buren Street home near Central Avenue around 11 a.m., Passaic Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said. Jersey City Terminates Contract With Liberty Humane Society Citing Performance Concerns
After 19 years, Jersey City is terminating its agreement with the Liberty Humane Society to provide animal control services. The termination means LHS must vacate its space at 235 Jersey City Blvd., at midnight on Dec. 31, Irene Borngraeber, the executive director of the Liberty Humane Society said. The city will assume all direct responsibility for its animal control and sheltering program. Summit Police are asking dog owners to be on high alert after a dog was bitten by a coyote and another dog was bitten by a likely rabid fox. A dog was bitten by a coyote near Dale Drive on Sunday, Oct. 15, police said. Following the attack, the coyote ran away into a wooded area. Animal control has been notified. A loose snake gave building officials a scare in a Jersey City high-rise, officials said. The building manager at 20 River Ct. contacted police on March 4 on reports of a snake entering a unit, according to Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione. The risk posed by deer in densely populated areas this particular time of year was tragically illustrated when one had to be put down in Glen Rock after being struck by a car. A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Hunterdon County, health officials said. The animal was found near Farmhouse Road in Alexandria Township and tested positive for rabies on Thursday, July 21, according to the Hunterdon County Dept. of Health. It was a team effort as responders rescued a deer from a storm drain in Demarest. Police who responded to several calls summoned borough DPW workers and both Demarest and Haworth firefighters to County Road and Eastview Terrace shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4. A young child and an adult were hospitalized after being bitten by a dog Thursday in Clifton, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at a private home on Knapp Avenue, just off Randolph Avenue, around 1 p.m., Police Lt. Robert Bracken said. Deer Chased By Dog Dies After Crashing Through Window Of River Vale Home
It came in as a possible burglary in progress but turned out to be a horrific accident. Sometime before dawn Wednesday, a deer being chased by a dog crashed through the window of a River Vale home, police said. The gravely wounded deer eventually died, Capt. Chris Bulger said. Animal control removed the carcass from the Coopers Lane home, he said. “The dog appeared to be fine and the deer showed no signs of injury from the dog,” the captain said. The dog’s owner and the homeowner “have been in contact and will handle the matter between them for the damage,” he said.

Dog Attack Sends 2 To Hospital In South Brunswick
Two people were hospitalized after being attacked by a family dog in South Brunswick on Tuesday, police said. A man in his 50s and woman in her 60s were bitten by the family dog, a pitbull, at a house on the 100 block of New Road, local police said. The victims were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, authorities said. Their conditions were not known as of Wednesday morning. Two Newark children were attacked by their pet dog Wednesday evening, authorities said. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. at a 16th Street home. The dog was turned over to animal control and the incident was under investigation as of 9:40 p.m., according to Catherine Adams, a spokeswoman for the Newark Police Department. A Good Samaritan chased away a fox attacking an 8-year-old girl in Livingston -- sending her to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The girl was playing near the shed of a Springbrook Road home when she was attacked by the animal around 4:45 p.m., Livingston Police Lt. Chris Reinhardt said. A neighbor who heard commotion chased the fox away, Reinhardt said. The girl was taken to St. Barnabas Medical Center with several small punctures on her shins and foot, police said.
