Alfred Julio Fernandez, 28, and a 42-year-old woman who was not identified by authorities were stabbed near 30 40th St., just before 3 a.m. Sunday, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers said.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at University Hospital, while the woman sustained non life-threatening injuries, Stephens and Bowers said.
No arrests had been made as of Monday morning. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
