A New York father of two has died following a devastating crash while walking through Central Park on his way to work, according to police and the man's loved ones.
Richard "Richie" O’Brien, of Port Jefferson Station, suffered a traumatic brain injury in the collision Wednesday, Sept. 23 and died Sunday, Sept. 27, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched for his family.
Police were alerted to a collision at approximately 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, involving a bicycle and a pedestrian on West Drive near West 84th Street, an NYPD spokesperson told Daily Voice.

Egler, 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Kelley McCollom, 38, and Matthew Szejnrok, 22, at a hearing in Viera on Friday, Sept. 25, according to the Office of State Attorney William Scheiner. Brick Man Helping Toms River Murder Suspect Evade Cops Surrenders: Police
A Brick Township man accused of helping a Toms River murder suspect evade authorities has surrendered, officials said.
Ronald Hagan, 50, surrendered to the Toms River Township Police Department in the presence of his attorney Monday morning, Sept. 28, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Hagan was charged with hindering the apprehension of another on Thursday, Sept. 24, in connection with the search for Douglas Cobb, 51, of Toms River, authorities said. Cobb is charged with murdering Bruce Gress, 42, of Toms River, on Friday, Sept. 18, in Toms River, Billhimer said.
