3 'Young Adults' Killed In Fiery Route 1 Crash In South Brunswick Three people were killed in a fiery crash on Route 1 in South Brunswick on Friday, April 12, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 9:40 a.m. near Ridge Road, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka. "This is a tragic day, as three young adults have lost their lives in this horrific crash," Hayducka said. "To the parents, family, and friends our hearts go out to you. The cab reportedly carried a woman in her 20s who was bleeding and yelling for help, South Brunswick police said. The woman was white, Hispanic with long brown hair. The route was closed for several hours during an investigation, South Brunswick police said. Police and EMS crews from South Brunswick, Monroe and North Brunswick responded. Police, firefighters and EMS crews were at the scene. The incident occurred at about 12:45 p.m. on March 11 at the high school at  Ridge Road and Stouts Lane, initial reports said. No one was reported hurt.  It was not immediately clear where the chemical smell originated. There was an unconfirmed report that the smell came from a pepper spray. The family pulled over on Ridge Road and got out after the car made a noise, police said in a tweet. Seconds later, the car burst into flames.  Monmouth Junction firefighters put out the fire.
