Police were looking for three men who held a FedEx driver at gunpoint, tied him up, and stole items from his delivery truck in Edison, authorities said. Son Finds Mom, 37, Stabbed Dead In Edison, Prosecutor Says
A 37-year-old man from Edison was charged in the fatal stabbing of a woman he knew, authorities said. Joan Franklin Polanco, 37, was detained by NYPD hours after the Sunday, July 21 stabbing, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Edison Police Chief Thomas Bryan. The Edison Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its lieutenants. The department announced the death of Lt. Donald Ship on Wednesday, July 10. A cause of death was not provided. Ship launched his career in law enforcement as an officer at Kean University before transferring to EPD in January 2011. He was assigned to the patrol bureau "where he was an officer his squad mates could rely on, and he was a field training officer to new hires," his department said. Retired Edison Police Sergeant Joseph Vincent Luistro died on Thursday, Jan. 18 of Lou Gehrig's disease, according to Edison Township police. He was 55 years old. Luistro was a 27-year veteran of the police force and was the first Asian American to serve in the Edison Police Department. Luistro started his law enforcement career in 1993 at Rutgers University-New Brunswick Police Department. He transferred to the Edison Police Department in 1999. Bomb Threat Shakes Up Jewish Community Center In Edison
There was an unfounded bomb threat on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County. The center on Oak Tree Road in Edison was temporarily evacuated. Police found no bomb and there were no injuries, according to Lt. Robert Duffy, an Edison Police Department spokesman. An investigation is continuing.
