Serious Crash Shuts Parkway In Ocean County
A serious crash closed a portion of the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County Saturday, July 15. Box Truck Being Towed Tips Beneath Route 80 Overpass
A box truck tipped while being towed beneath a Route 80 overpass in Elmwood Park, jamming area traffic early Friday afternoon. Another tow was needed to straighten and remove the truck owned by Salerno's Custom Cabinetry in Saddle Brook from the corner of River Road and Market Street shortly after 1 p.m. No injuries were reported. Route 17 Crash Downs Wires
A single-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday night downed utility wires on Route 17 in Paramus. The northbound highway was closed for a little over a half-hour after a vehicle slammed into a utility pole near Midland Avenue around 10:30 p.m. July 12. Only one lane was passable on the southbound side while the wreckage was removed and police investigated. An occupant was extricated, although word was that Injuries didn't appear serious. 23-Year-Old Airlifted After Driver Sends Car Into Oncoming Traffic On I-78: Police
A 23-year-old woman was flown to the hospital in a crash on Interstate 78 Sunday, June 25, New Jersey State Police said. An Acura Integra driven by a 23-year-old Manville man ran off the highway to the left and crossed the center median, entering the westbound lanes around 9 a.m. near milepost 22.7, in Clinton Township, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said. The Acura was struck by a westbound Hyundai. The 23-year-old Acura driver was seriously injured, as was his passenger, a Middlesex woman, who was flown to the hospital. The Hyundai's passengers suffered moderate injuries.

: Dump Truck Lands On Divider, Spills Gravel In Multi-Vehicle Pileup
UPDATE: A multi-vehicle crash involving an overturned dump truck stopped Wednesday morning rush-hour traffic on Route 80. The eastbound express lanes just past Exit 62 and a westbound lane were closed after the truck pitched onto the divider and spilled both gravel and diesel fuel in Saddle Brook shortly after 6:30 a.m. June 7, responders said. Ambulance Overturns At Garden State Parkway Toll Plaza
Two people were injured after an ambulance overturned at the Essex County Toll Plaza Thursday morning, June 1 on the Garden State Parkway, state police said. The crash happened at 9:06 a.m. after the ambulance struck the toll plaza, Philip Curry, a public information officer for the New Jersey State Police said. The two occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, Curry said. Toll lanes 8, 9, 10 and 11 remain closed as police continue to investigate the crash, Curry said.

: Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams NJ Turnpike Rush Into NYC
A tractor-trailer burst into flames on the I-95 approach from the New Jersey Turnpike to the George Washington Bridge, clogging the Tuesday morning rush. The driver got the rig onto the shoulder of the local lanes near mile marker 117, roughly two-tenths of a mile before the Ridgefield Park exit, shortly after 6:30 a.m. May 16. Flames spread along the bottom of the trailer as the driver got out safely. Black smoke could be seen for miles. Ridgefield Park firefighters doused the blaze. No injuries were immediately reported. New Jersey State Police are investigating the cause.

A 49-year-old man from New York who was stopped in the shoulder of the New Jersey Turnpike was seriously injured when he suddenly sped away from the trooper checking on him, hitting another vehicle Sunday morning, May 14, authorities said. The man was stopped in a Honda Accord on the shoulder near milepost 54.2 in Bordentown, when a trooper came over to check on him around 10:35 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry said. A man was killed in a fiery crash with a garbage truck before dawn on Monday, May 8, Pequannock Police have confirmed. A tractor-trailer tipped across the entire southbound side of Route 17 early Saturday, closing the highway coming down from Route 287. The rig ran up the grassy curb outside Jack Daniels Porsche in Upper Saddle River, took down a sign and pitched onto its side, leaving it lying across both shoulders and all three lanes, shortly before midnight April 29.
