Maui Wildfires: Bloomfield Man Helps Friends In Hawaii Joseph Franco's friends and BJJ teammates have seen the devastation of the Maui wildfires firsthand. Now Franco, a Bloomfield resident is doing what he can to help. A fundraiser has been created to assist Joe and Yehia Refando, Maui residents, who lost their home and all their possessions in the wildfire. As of Wednesday, August 16, almost $7,500 has been raised. "They were able to save their dogs and escape to a nearby shelter with only the clothes on their back," Franco said.
