Woman Brandished Knife At Walmart: Secaucus PD
A 57-year-old Jersey City woman was arrested and charged after she brandished a knife at a Walmart in Secaucus on the evening of Friday, Dec. 13, authorities said. At 10:59 p.m., officers responded to Walmart at 400 Park Plaza Dr. and found that Josephine Melendez brandished a folding knife and made threats during a verbal altercation, Secaucus police said. Melendez was charged with terroristic threats, multiple weapons offenses and endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Paterson Pair Were Trying To Kill 46-Year-Old Man In Morning Shooting: Prosecutor
The two people responsible for a shooting Monday morning, Nov. 4, were arrested less than two hours later, authorities said. Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said only that Jose Ortiz, 31, and Yesenia Adorno, 43, both of Paterson, were responsible for the shooting of a 46-year-old man that happened at North Main and Arch streets around 8:30 a.m. The victim survived and was hospitalized with injuries. Person Stabbed In Kearny, Suspect Apprehended: Police
A 49-year-old Kearny man was arrested and charged after a stabbing on Friday, Oct. 18 left a man with life-threatening injurie, authorities said. Officers apprehended William Krebs following the stabbing on Quincy Avenue near Maple Street, Kearny police said. Despite the life-threatening injuries, the victim is expected to survive, police said. Krebs was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses, police said. He is currently in the Hudson County Jail, police said.

NJ Town's Mayor Charged In High School Parking Lot Incident
The mayor of one New Jersey town is facing weapons offenses for an incident that happened in a high school parking lot, police said. Linwood police released a statement saying only that Erland V. Chau, 72, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from an incident in the Mainland Regional High School on Oct. 1. A 37-year-old man was convicted on Wednesday, Oct. 2, of fatally shooting a man outside a ShopRite supermarket in East Orange in 2022, authorities said. On June 3, 2022, police in East Orange responded to the ShopRite supermarket on Main Street and found the body of Melja Oliver lying on the side of the building, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said. David Fontoura, a lieutenant in the Essex Coutny Prosecutor's Office was charged with multiple accounts of assault related to domestic violence incidents, authorities said. A 20-year-old Elizabeth man was convicted on Wednesday, May 8, of fatally shooting a 25-year-old Newark man in 2022, authorities said. On Feb. 16, 2022, Mahdi Wright shot James Shaw. Jr. in the back of the head as he was standing on the curb talking with two people on the corner of Shephard Avenue and Maples Place, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens said.
