The U.S. beat Japan 2-1 in the semifinals of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Olympic Qualifiers in Ranchi, India, on Thursday, Jan. 18. He was 44. Born in Whitehouse, Doug was raised in New York City, where he went to the Buckley School, his obituary says. Doug studied Mandarin Chinese and played center on the varsity football team at his high school, Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Train In Montclair A man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a train Monday, April 4 in Montclair, officials said. The unidentified bicyclist was struck by Montclair Boonton Line Train 1087 just before Watchung Avenue Station around 9:40 p.m., NJ Transit Spokesman Jim Smith said. The train had left Hoboken at 8:58 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hackettstown at 11:07 p.m., Smith said. None of the seven customers nor crew members were injured. Rail service was suspended between Walnut Street and Upper Montclair. NJ Transit police were investigating.

The restaurant will reopen Saturday. Tomo, a military veteran, died on June 11 at 93 years old. The Brooklyn native moved to Upper Montclair in 1969, 11 years after opening Pizza Town USA on Route 46. The restaurant, recently named to the Daily Meal's list of greatest old school pizzerias in America, was being run by Tomo's children, Michele Ginter and Bruce Tomo.
