All Lanes Of Route 17 Closed By Overturned Construction Equipment In East Rutherford
Traffic was halted along Route 17 Tuesday morning, Oct. 29 due to debris that fell off a tractor trailer in East Rutherford. As of 10 a.m., all southbound lanes, south of East Union Avenue, were closed. Traffic cameras show cars backed up in the southbound lanes and what appeared to be overturned construction equipment. Two teenagers crawled from their overturned vehicle as it burst into flames on the Palisades Interstate Parkway, responders said. Back-To-Back Tractor-Trailer Crashes Jam Route 80
Westbound Route 80 near the border of Bergen and Passaic counties had two tractor-trailer crashes on Monday. No serious injuries were reported in either, although the driver in the second rig had to be extricated. The first occurred near Exit 58 B in Paterson around 9 a.m. Sept. 25. A witness driving to work on the eastbound side reported seeing the rig in the center lane begin to fishtail to the left. Route 95 Tractor-Trailer Fire Jams Morning Rush
Firefighters doused an early morning tractor-trailer blaze that jammed early rush-hour traffic on Route 95. Flames spread across the highway after the fire broke out on the highway's southbound side near mile marker 117 in Ridgefield around 5 a.m., responders said.The rig, toting plastic corrugated tubing, was fully involved when firefighters arrived. Fort Lee firefighters brought a tanker and engine to assist. The blaze was knocked down within 20 minutes and under control within another half-hour, with firefighters briefly hitting hot spots. Drivers sat on the Garden State Parkway for hours due to a 19-car crash that closed the northbound of the highway. While no injuries were reported, at least 19 cars were involved in the Bass River northbound crash around 5:30 p.m., authorities said. Tire-Toting Tractor Trailer Splits, Tying Up Traffic Off GWB
A tractor-trailer buckled and bent at the westbound Route 4 ramp to Route 95 in Fort Lee during Monday’s morning rush. The mishap occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m., jamming traffic. The delays continued more than an hour while the cargo – used tires – was offloaded to another truck before the trailer could be towed.
