Maplewood Exploring Improvements After Two Kids Struck By Vehicle
Two students were struck by a vehicle on the morning of Monday, Oct. 7 in Maplewood, authorities said. At 7:52 a.m., officers responded to Prospect Street and Oakland Road after a car traveling south on Prospect struck the two juveniles, police said. One juvenile was transported to area hospital with parent for non-life-threatening injury and the second juvenile's parent declined medical transport, police said. NJ Town Mayor Calls For Improvements After 8-Year-Old Killed Riding Bike
Avyaan Gupta was riding his bicycle in Parsippany when he was struck by a vehicle and killed block from his home on Tuesday, July 9. He was eight years old. At 5:34 p.m., Avyaan was struck by a 2022 Mazda CX5 traveling in the area of 189 Littleton Road, Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Parsippany –Troy Hills Police Chief Richard Pantina said. A North Carolina passenger was arrested on illegal gun and ammo possession charges following a Route 17 traffic stop in Paramus. Officer Vincent Labarbiera stopped the driver of a 2005 Honda Accord with overly tinted windows for making an unsafe lane change on the southbound highway near Midland Avenue earlier this month, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Bloomfield PD Cracking Down On Drivers Who Don't Stop For Pedestrians
The Bloomfield Police Department is conducting a special enforcement campaign in April targeting motorists who fail to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, the Division of Public Safety said. The enforcement campaign will be conducted at "several locations" in the township, officials also said. Since 2010, drivers in New Jersey have been required to stop, and to stay stopped, while pedestrians are using a crosswalk.
