): Gas Tanker Flips From One Side Of Route 17 To Other, Dealership Destroyed
In nothing short of a miracle, no serious injuries were reported after a gas tanker truck exploded into a huge fireball on Route 17 Monday morning. A used car dealership and many of its two dozen or so vehicles were destroyed in the five-alarm blaze after the truck and a passenger vehicle collided near the U-turn at the White Castle on the highway's southbound side in Hasbrouck Heights at 5:43 a.m. Jan. 8. Mutual Aid Helps Boy, 4, From Family Of North Jersey First Responders Begin Cancer Fight
A 4-year-old boy who comes from a family of North Jersey first responders has headed into a battle with the additional love and support of friends, fellow public servants and others. Jonathan Benkovic has Wilms tumor. Also known as nephroblastoma, it's a pediatric cancer that often affects children 3 to 4 years old. Next week he'll begin chemotherapy treatments that are expected to last 30 weeks. A community of public servants are all pulling for Jonathan, who comes from a family of heroes. Fire At Coach House Diner Doused
An electrical fire was doused at the Coach House diner on Route 4 in Hackensack as responders handled a rapid-fire cluster of calls. A smoking outlet at the popular diner off Hackensack Avenue brought city firefighters around 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, responders at the scene said. The scene was cleared about 90 minutes later. Firefighters from Teaneck and Bogota assisted in some spots as several calls all seemed to come in at once. Hours after patrons celebrated St. Patrick's Day, a fire closed the Crow's Nest in Hackensack. And just like that, they reopened. "We are excited to share that we will be reopening today with normal business hours," the restaurant posted on social media on Sunday, March 19. A detached garage fire in Little Ferry severely damaged two vehicles and was doused before it could do serious damage to the home, responders said. The smoky, two-alarm blaze broke out on Roosevelt Street near Redneck Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3. Fire Levels Saddle Brook Shed, Spreads To Neighbor's Property
A propane-fueled fire burned a shed to the ground in Saddle Brook while spreading to another shed and a house. A huge column of smoke loomed over the nearby Garden State Parkway after the fire broke out on dead-ended Birk Street around noontime Saturday, Sept. 24. Fire Damages Saddle Brook Home
A fire called in by a dogwalker damaged a vacant home being renovated in Saddle Brook. Firefighters quickly knocked down the Hayes Drive blaze, which apparently broke out in the basement around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. They had it doused within 20 minutes. Units Damaged In Fort Lee Condo Fire
Firefighters doused a Thursday afternoon blaze that damaged units on two floors of a Fort Lee condominium. Flames blew through two first-floor windows after breaking out in a crawlspace in the five-story brick Central Court Condominiums on Central Road shortly before 2 p.m. Firefighters had the two-alarm blaze knocked down in about an hour and under control before 3:30 p.m. It was later ruled accidental.
