MSU Student Breanna Pifano, 20, Dies Weeks After Suffering Cardiac Event
Breanna Pifano, a 20-year-old student at Montclair State University, died on Monday, Sept. 18, after suffering a cardiac event earlier this month, according to her obituary.
Breanna was born on Dec. 18, 2002 and was in her third year at MSU studying biology, with aspirations of becoming an optometrist.
A fundraiser was set up to assist the family with medical and funeral expenses. As of Friday, Sept. 22, more than $40,590 has been raised.

Officer Killed In Raleigh Mass Shooting Laid To Rest In Home State Of NJ
A 29-year-old police officer ambushed and killed while on his way to work as a police officer in Raleigh, NC has been buried in New Jersey — his home state.
Services for Gabriel Torres, a Jackson native, were held at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, with internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.

Dylan Thomas Byrne died Thursday in Kearny. He was 28.
Born in Newark, he lived in Kearny for many years before moving to East Stroudsburg, Pa., five years ago.
He is survived by his mother, Kathleen (nee Quinn); his fiancee Jessica Lassiter; daughters Madelyn Lassiter and Layla Byrne; brothers Barry and Christopher; grandmother Margaret Byrne; and aunts and uncles Colleen Quinn Gaynor, Helen Quinn Pastrof, Greg Byrne, Deborah Byrne Torina and Maureen Byrne Brunner.
He is predeceased by his father, Barry, and Clifford, his grandfather.

A funeral will be held Wednesday for Dominik Assis, 27, a longtime Kearny resident who died suddenly on Friday.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Thiele-Reid Family Funeral Home, 585 Belgrove Drive, Kearny, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. Cremation will be private.
Born in Brazil, he came to the United States in 1992. For the past year he lived in North Arlington. He was a self-employed flooring installer.
He is survived by his son, Logan, and his mother Ursula (nee Simone).
