One Dead, Three Wounded In Pair Of Paterson Shootings
One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a bridge over the Passaic River, authorities confirmed.
Responding officers found both city residents show in the neck and legs near the North Bridge Street bridge shortly before midnight Wednesday, March 13, they said.
Both were taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, where one of them, 43, was pronounced dead, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said.
The second victim, 38, remained in stable condition at the hospital on Wednesday, they said.

Passaic County sheriff's detectives seized 11,450 heroin folds, more than five ounces combined of unpackaged heroin and cocaine and a loaded gun from a convicted felon from Woodland Park, authorities said.
Jemell Carter, 39, was stopped by the investigators on Summer and Fulton streets in Paterson following a drug deal on Jackson Avenue in Woodland Park on Tuesday, April 19, Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.
In his car, Berdnik said, they found:
the 9mm Hi-Point handgun;
700 heroin folds;
the unpackaged drugs;
illegally obtained pot;
$2,522 in drug cash.

Paterson police seized a pair of loaded guns while breaking up unruly weekend crowds, authorities said.
People in one group were drinking, playing loud music and blocking the roadway at Main and Weis streets shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
As Detectives Levis Qirjako, Mustafa Dombayci, John Traynor, Mohammed Bashir and Luis Pimienta pulled up to disperse the crowd, Faquir Melton took off on foot, Speziale said.

Paterson detectives nabbed two dealers and seven buyers while seizing nearly 300 heroin folds at an open-air drug market near the city public library, authorities said Wednesday.
Responding to continued citizens’ complaints, Narcotics Division detectives hit a stretch of Summer Street between Hamilton Avenue and Van Houten Street late Tuesday afternoon, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
They arrested city residents Quadra Carmichael, 37, and Brian Thomas, 52, on a variety of charges that include possessing and selling heron near the library and School No. 6, Speziale said.

Paterson police raided an open-air drug market, seizing 4,176 heroin folds, 194 bags of crack and $5,549 in proceeds while busting 20 dealers and buyers, authorities said.
Among the accused buyers was a 72-year-old city man caught with four vials of crack, they said.
