Holy Quadrinity: Four New Priests Ordained By Newark Archdiocese
The Newark Archdiocese has four new fathers. Cardinal Joseph Tobin, Archbishop of Newark, ordained four men to the priesthood during a Rite of Ordination ceremony on Saturday, May 27 at Newark's Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The four new priests are Robert Burkot, JuHyun Andrew Lee, Bernardo Garcia and Frenel Phanford. Following their ordainment, the priests offered their first blessings to those in attendance. Authorities: Jersey City Priest Groped Woman In Church
A Jersey City priest was arrested on accusations of groping and kissing a woman in his church, authorities said Monday. Donato Cabardo, 56, surrendered to authorities at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Jersey City Friday at 11 a.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Cabardo touched the woman's breast and buttocks and pressed his cheek against her cheek, kissing her cheek, hand, face and head at St. Paul of the Cross Church on Hancock Avenue between January and July 2020, Suarez said. When Bertha D. Torres opened La Concha in Jersey City, she promised one of her first customers Johnny Baez she'd be there until death. "I will always remember these words," Baez said in a tribute on Facebook. That fateful day came on April 16, when Torres passed away at 64 years old.
