New York Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors
A 60-year-old man from New York City was fatally shot in Newark on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, authorities said. At 3:55 p.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Renner Avenue and found Vincent Anderson outside at the location suffering from a gunshot wound, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was pronounced dead at the scene soon after, Stephens and Fragé said. Teen Couple Shot In Paterson
One of two victims in a mid-afternoon shooting on Paterson’s north side flagged down a police car, responders said. The 18-year-old city man, who had a bullet wound in his leg, was with a 19-year-old city woman when both were shot in a depressed neighborhood near the corner of Holsman and North Bridge Streets shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17. A car fire on a New Jersey roadway has been linked to the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers that left one dead on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, authorities said. Police in South Brunswick said only that the vehicle fire extinguished on Route 32 around 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, was connected to the shooting. The vehicle fire came nearly two hours after Philadelphia Police Officers Richard Mendez and Raul Ortiz were shot at Philadelphia Airport. Irvington Shooting Victim Found Lying In Street: Maplewood Police
A person who was shot in Irvington was found lying in the street in Maplewood on Monday, Oct. 9, Maplewood police said. At 2:11 p.m., police in Maplewood responded to Evelyn Court and found the victim, Maplewood Police Chief Albert Sally said. They were taken to a nearby hospital, Sally said. An investigation by Maplewood police determined the shooting occurred in Irvington and the Irvington Police Detective Bureau will be handling the investigation, Sally said. Three people were shot at a party in Kearny early Monday morning, August 7, authorities said. The shooting occurred at 1 a.m. at the Vermella East apartment complex, inside a single apartment, police said. The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.
