A 49-year-old Burlington Township ex-convict was found with a loaded gun and drugs at a Somerset County school one early-morning this week, authorities said. Police in Franklin Township were notified around 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, that someone was driving on two flat tires on the property of a local private school, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. NJ Town's Mayor Charged In High School Parking Lot Incident
The mayor of one New Jersey town is facing weapons offenses for an incident that happened in a high school parking lot, police said. Linwood police released a statement saying only that Erland V. Chau, 72, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from an incident in the Mainland Regional High School on Oct. 1. A Jersey City school security guard had hot coffee thrown in his face by a woman being asked to leave the premises on Friday, Dec. 9, authorities said. Bayonne schools will see a boost in security after a pair of 12-year-olds were followed to school by a man, district officials said. An unidentified white male wearing all black followed the boys on their way to the Walter F. Robinson Community School near 31st Street Monday morning, Superintendent John Niesz said. Additional police patrolmen and district security guards will be placed around the school before and after school to ensure the safety of the children, Niesz said.

Passaic Police Boost Security At High School After Unfounded Social Media Threat
Authorities increased security at Passaic High School on Thursday following a social media threat. The unfounded post said: "I'm shooting up PHS @2:30 on the set." Passaic police were joined at the school by Passaic County sheriff's officers. A lockdown wasn't considered necessary and classes were conducted as usual, authorities said.
