SWAT Teams Capture Fugitive At Lyndhurst Motel Wanted For Virginia Attempted Murder, Find Gun
Lyndhurst police tactical units captured a fugitive wanted for attempted murder in Virginia who they said had a handgun in his hotel room, authorities said. The department's SWAT and crisis negotiation team went to the Winslow Hotel just off Route 3 around 9:50 a.m. Sunday. They'd been alerted by the Smyth County Sheriff's Office that Andrew Wyble, 25, had been staying there, Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Wyble -- who most recently had a Bloomingdale address -- was wanted for an attempted homicide from late last month, he said. Authorities in Smyth County also said he may be suicida…

Fatal Crash: Motorcyclist Ejected Off Route 3 Bridge Into Hackensack River
A 28-year-old motorcyclist from Paterson was killed late Tuesday when he was ejected off a Route 3 bridge into the Hackensack River in Secaucus, responders said. Firefighters from Secaucus and East Rutherford recovered the body of the as-yet unidentified victim near the Clarion Empire Meadowlands Hotel south of the bridge about a half-hour after the 11 p.m. crash, they said. They also found his helmet. An ALS unit made the pronouncement. The highway was reopened around 4 a.m.

Responders: Clifton Man, 44, In Route 3 Crash Died Of Medical Cause
A 44-year-old driver killed in a Monday morning crash on Route 3 in Clifton apparently suffered a medical episode, responders told Daily Voice. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by Anton Dittrich of Clifton veered onto the westbound shoulder and scraped along the divider for about 100 yards before coming to a stop near the Bloomfield Avenue exit shortly before 10:30 a.m., authorities said Monday afternoon. A man caught secretly recording females in bathroom stalls at a Barnes & Noble on Route 3 in Clifton was carrying child porn videos, authorities said. Juan Mejia, 44, of Paterson, was being held Friday in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing this coming Wednesday. A Jersey City man who was being followed by Clifton police sustained serious injuries after crashing his motorcycle on Route 3 at the Route 1&9 off-ramp, authorities said. The 26-year-old motorcyclist was headed eastbound he crashed his 2000 Suzuki just after 9 p.m. Sunday, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said. A Lyndhurst woman on her way to work was killed when her truck slammed into a tree early Saturday, authorities said. The 40-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene after her Chevy Tahoe struck the tree off the northbound lane across from an industrial park on Chubb Avenue near Route 3 around 7:15 a.m., Detective Sgt. Nutley police captured a 17-year-old delinquent who was wearing a monitoring bracelet when he mugged a cab driver in the parking lot of a Clifton hotel, authorities said Monday.
