A woman who lived with him in the single-family house at the corner of River Road at West Main Street escaped after the three-alarm fire ignited around 6 a.m. Nov. 18, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. NY Fugitive Wanted For Trashing GF's Bogota Apartment, Pulling Fire Alarm Caught, Brought To NJ
A Bronx resident who trashed his girlfriend's Bogota garden apartment and then pulled a fire alarm that emptied the complex was extradited to New Jersey to face charges, authorities said. That could be problematic, however. Officers called to the scene chased Erison J. Borbon, 28, as he sped away from the River Road apartment complex in a 2010 BMW late close to midnight on Dec. 4, 2022, Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. The excessive speed convinced them to terminate the pursuit out of concerns for public safety, Cole said. Police charged Borbon with circulating a false report of impending …

Beloved Bogota Bagel Man Dies
He was deeply woven into the community's fabric, so it's with deep sadness that folks are learning that Thomas Walsh died at the bagel shop in Bogota where he'd worked for as long as most could remember. The general manager regularly arrived hours before sunrise so that those still asleep would have a pleasant start to their days, thanks to fluffy, jumbo-sized bagels that became the trademark of the shop in front of the train tracks. It was around 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, in fact, when borough police were called to the R…

An ambulance from Holy Name Medical Center took him to the Hackensack University Medical Center trauma unit with a broken leg and head injury, responders said.

Fire Partially Collapses Atrium In Bogota Home
A firefighter was treated for a hand injury during a roaring Wednesday night blaze that partially collapsed an enclosed atrium attached to a Bogota home, officials said. Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the main area of the 2½-story River Road home, Fire Chief Alex Breuss said. Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the two-alarm fire, which broke out in the rear yard around 8:15 p.m. and ravaged the atrium, partially collapsing the second floor, the chief said. Firefighters had it knocked within an hour. "Great job by all and everyone went home safe," Breuss sa…
