Following fierce storms swept through the region Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, many roadways were still flooded and wet, making for treacherous commutes Wednesday, Aug. 7.

A sex offender convicted in both New Jersey and New York has been arrested once again, this time for stalking a 19-year-old woman in two Bergen County towns, police said.
Blake Tannen, 34, of Saddle River, was charged with stalking on Saturday, July 27, the same day that a visibly upset 19-year-old woman approach Ridgewood Police Officer Schumann, while he was on patrol, Ridgewood Police Chief Forest Lyons said.

Three Hudson and Bergen County residents were arrested and charged this week after they were paid $200,000 to do contract work they never performed, authorities said.

Police Charge Local Handyman With $192,000 Heist From Downtown Ramsey Restaurant
As local heists go, the theft of a safe containing $192,000 from a restaurant in downtown Ramsey is pretty considerable.
Police said they didn’t have to go far to find it, either.
Craig Lannin, 57, a construction worker who’s lived in town all his life, stole it on Nov. 28 while working at Bici, a modern Italian restaurant on East Main Street, Ramsey Police Detective Jaclyn Sabatelli said.
Lannin, who records show had prior arrests, lives a mile and a half due north of downtown.
Police charged him with theft and criminal mischief and released him pending court action.

Connor Koch, a 24-year-old Ramsey resident, is reeling following the death of his parents within a six-span month.
