Person Struck By Train In Harrison; 2nd Person Killed By Train In NJ Wednesday
An Amtrak train struck a person who had entered the tracks in Harrison just east of Penn Station Newark Wednesday night, NJ Transit said. Transit later said the person died. The person was hit around 5:07 p.m. The incident disrupted service between New York Penn and Newark Penn stations, NJ Transit and Amtrak said. PATH service was affected as well. UPDATE: The woman's name was released Thursday. Click here for more. A Dover-bound NJ Transit train struck and killed a person in South Orange Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the agency said. Morris & Essex 6225, which left Penn Station New York shortly before noon, struck the person, described only as a female trespasser, at around 12:30 p.m. at Mountain Station. Bus Driver From Roselle Cleared Of Charges She Locked Up Passenger: Report
Charges have been dropped against a Roselle bus driver accused of locking a passenger inside a bus luggage compartment, The Boston Globe reported. Wendy Alberty, 49, was driving a Peter Pan bus towards Boston Aug. 4 when the passenger called police from inside the luggage compartment. Police stopped the bus in Connecticut and freed the woman, who a witness said did not appear to be in any distress. Man Killed By Train In Millburn, Service Suspended On 2 Lines
A man was killed when he was struck by a train near the Millburn station Friday morning, NJ Transit said. The man, who was not identified, was hit by the 6610 on the Morris and Essex Line headed towards New York around 6:45 a.m. His identity was not immediately released. No one else was injured. Service on the Morris and Essex and Gladstone lines remained suspended as of about 8:30 a.m. in both directions. Tickets were being cross-honored on NJ Transit buses and private carriers, the spokeswoman said. Service resumed later Friday morning.

A Newark man who was hit by an NJ Transit bus while crossing a city street three years ago accepted a $1.2 million award to settle his lawsuit against the agency, according to published reports. Paterson Man, 46, Struck, Killed By Bus
A 46-year-old Paterson man was struck and killed by a commuter bus in the city on Thursday. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Main and Mary streets shortly before 2 p.m. The bus was part of Route No. 72, which runs between Newark and Paterson, officials said. There were no summonses immediately issued to the driver of the #72 NJ Transit bus, which runs between Newark and Paterson. A man who suffered traumatic brain injuries and was left disabled after he was hit by a bus three years ago was awarded a $12.75 million settlement, The New Jersey Law Journal reported this week. A collision with a commuter bus occurred late Thursday morning in Hasbrouck Heights after the sedan's 76-year-old driver ran a red light, police said. A train engineer whose undiagnosed sleep apnea was determined to be a factor in a crash at Hoboken Terminal three years ago that killed one and injured more than 100 others will once again work for NJ Transit, an arbitrator ruled late last month. Clifton Woman, 35, ID'd As Victim Fatally Struck By Light Rail Train
The person killed when she was struck by a light rail train in Weehawken Monday night is a 35-year-old Clifton woman, NJ Transit said. Saskia Guerrero was struck by the Hudson-Bergen line train around 11 p.m. near Port Imperial Boulevard. The Hoboken train had about 70 people aboard. Family have started a GoFundMe campaign on her behalf to help with expenses. The incident remains under investigation.

Original story: A pedestrian died Monday night when she was hit by a Hudson Bergen Light Rail train in Weehawken, NJ Transit said. The woman was hit around 11 p.m. near Port Imperial Boulevard. No one aboard the Hoboken-bound train was injured. The identity of the woman was not immediately available Tuesday morning. The incident is under investigation, NJ Transit said. : 12 Victims Hospitalized In Hillside Senior Citizen Bus Crash
A dozen people were hospitalized with what were characterized as minor injuries after a car rear-ended a bus in Hillside Thursday, sending it into a utility pole. A Hyundai Sonata traveling on Long Avenue apparently blew a stop sign and rear-ended a Hillside Senior Citizen bus that was headed south on Central Avenue just before 9:30 a.m., authorities said.
