Police are on the hunt for a woman who they say assaulted a New Jersey Transit bus driver in Newark. Surveillance video shows the suspect spitting on and hitting the driver with an umbrella around 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Clinton Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Car Struck By Train In Jersey City
Firefighters freed a driver from their car after it was struck by a light-rail train Monday, authorities said. The train operating from Bayonne to Hoboken struck the car at approximately 9 a.m. at the intersection of Essex and Warren Streets in Jersey City, NJ Transit officials said. The driver was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, they said. There were no injuries to the 30 customers or train operator on board, officials said. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man who authorities say assaulted an NJ Transit bus driver who wouldn't accept a used ticket. Sulaiman Boyer, 34, and another man got on the bus that stopped at Lenox Street and Sanford Avenue July 21 around 7:15 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said. A man was struck and killed by a train Thursday night in Elizabeth, responders said. Northeast Corridor train 3891 struck the man near W. Grand Street station around 10:45 p.m., NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith said. The train had left New York Penn Station at 10:11 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Trenton at 11:42 p.m. There were no injuries to the approximately 300 customers or crew on board the train. NY Waterway Rolls Out Free Shuttle Bus Services From Edgewater, Fort Lee To Port Imperial
NY Waterway has rolled out a free weekday shuttle bus service. The bus will run between Edgewater and the Port Imperial Ferry Terminal in Weehawken, where ferry customers can connect with direct ferries to Midtown and Downtown Manhattan, the NY Waterway announced. The bus service is a temporary measure prior to relaunching ferry service from Edgewater. UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters cut a driver from a vehicle after it was struck by a commuter train Wednesday morning, the second time in nine days that's happened in the city. A contract for $18.5 million was approved for the construction of a new Lyndhurst NJ Transit train station replacing the current 107-year-old facility.
