An off-duty NYPD commander kidnapped and brutally beat a New Jersey woman outside a restaurant in Paterson, authorities charged. Capt. Hariton Marachilian, a 45-year-old Long Island resident, remained held in the Bergen County Jail on Thursday, Dec. 7, following his arrest for the alleged Dec. 10, 2022 incident. Sandy Jessop, of Wall, served alongside her now-husband, Christian Jessop, during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, then deployed again to Iraq in 2008. The Lehigh Valley community is mourning the loss of a Bethlehem police officer who died by suicide on July 4. Matthew Ragusa was "a beckon of light to countless citizens who needed hope in their darkest hour," wrote Robert Corsi. Army Vet Struck, Killed On NJ Turnpike While Changing Tire After Party With Wife, Son
A 33-year-old U.S. Army veteran returning from a birthday party with his wife and son was struck and killed by a car while changing a tire on the NJ Turnpike in Secaucus, authorities said. Police found East Newark's Jose Peralta lying in the roadway around 11:50 Saturday night, New Jersey State Police said.
