A custodian found a spent ammunition round in the hallway of a Morris County middle school, authorities said. The discovery was made at Chatham Middle School on Monday, May 1, according to local police. The shell casing was turned over to the principal and School Resource Officer Brian Stanton who immediately notified the police department. A man was arrested after trying to hide in the woods from police as they were serving a warrant in Morris County, authorities said. The Morris County Sheriff's Department arrived at Naughright Road at the Totten Farm to serve a warrant around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, according to the Washington Township Police Department, who responded after the man allegedly ran into the woods. Three suspects were charged after leading police on a high-speed chase through Morris County, crashing a vehicle, and fleeing on foot, authorities said. A Florham Park resident first witnessed a suspicious vehicle outside his home and yelled at one of the suspects who walked into his driveway around 3:10 a.m. on Friday, May 27, the local police department said. A driver died and a passenger was seriously injured following a Thursday afternoon crash with a tow truck on Route 46, police confirmed. A flatbed tow truck was traveling west on Route 46 in Rockaway Borough when a 4-door sedan on Mannino Drive attempted to make a left turn onto Route 46 East, resulting in a collision at the intersection just after 12:10 p.m., Police Lt. Eight patients were evacuated from the emergency room of Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville due to heavy smoke conditions from a mechanical fire Monday afternoon, authorities said. The fire broke out in an air handler on the roof due to a mechanical failure around 12 p.m. Monday, Denville Police Capt. Jeffrey Tucker said.
