At 6:21 p.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard and found Sabree Gannt outside suffering from gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the area of Spruce Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard just before 9 p.m. found Michael Rutledge, 34, laying on the sidewalk, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:27 pm. Update: Seven Shot, One Killed Within Minutes In Newark Tuesday Afternoon UPDATE, 7 p.m. -- Newark police said one of the victims, a male, was killed in the shooting at Martin Luther King Boulevard. Two females suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Also, about five minutes after the first shooting, a total of four males were wounded by gunfire at 200 South Orange Avenue. None of the injuries are life-threatening, police said.  The identity of the deceased victim was not immediately released.
