FedEx Driver Carjacked At Gunpoint In Linden
A FedEx truck involved in a collision in Linden Monday was taken at gunpoint, police said. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Stiles Street near Valley Road. The FedEx driver told police that someone got out of the other vehicle, pulled a gun on the driver and demanded the keys to the truck. Both vehicles were last seen heading towards Raritan Road. Linden Man Accused Of Shooting Stepfather Caught In Pennsylvania
A Linden man wanted for shooting his stepfather last month was captured in Pennsylvania, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Authorities had been looking for Derrick E. Merisma after police were called to a Cedar Avenue apartment Oct. 18 on a report of a shooting. The 49-year-old victim had sustained a gunshot wound, authorities said. A 9mm handgun was found at the scene, authorities also said. Merisma was tracked to Easton, Pa., where he was pulled over in a traffic stop last week. A pit bull dog that appears to have been repeatedly impregnated was found in "atrocious" conditions at a vacant Linden home, the Newark branch of Associated Humane Societies said in a Facebook post Saturday. Three men have been charged in connection with a shooting outside a Linden strip club that left one of them in critical condition, the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Linden police said. Roselle Man Charged With Starting Fires In Linden
A 30-year-old Roselle man has been charged with arson in connection with a series of fires occurring on one night in Linden, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said. Marcus B. Wise has been charged with five arson-related counts, as well as a single count of burglary and another count of criminal mischief. The string of fires began around 10 p.m. July 25 at a business on North Wood Avenue, followed within a half-hour by a second blaze in the 900 block of Seymour Avenue at a vacant home. A fight early Sunday at a Linden strip club has left two men in critical condition, police said. The brawl erupted at Cheeque's Gentlemen's Club on East Linden Avenue around 3 a.m. Two men were beaten by "multiple suspects," police said. Authorities: Mechanic Tried Patching Jeep's Damage After Hit-Run Crash Killed Teacher
A 39-year-old mechanic from Linden struck a schoolteacher with his Jeep, killing her, and then drove to his auto body shop to patch up the damage, said authorities who tracked down and arrested him.
