Two men were arrested and charged with fencing stolen automobile parts on Friday, Jan. 3, following an undercover investigation by Secaucus police, authorities said. On Monday, Dec. 30, officers responded to the 500 block of New County Road on a report of an abandoned vehicle, Secaucus police said. When officers arrived, they located a 2015 Honda CRV missing its bumper, passenger side door and headlights, police said. Truck Takes Down Cables In Kenilworth
A street in Kenilworth was temporarily closed Friday, Nov. 29 after a large truck struck multiple cables, leaving wires and debris scattered, the fire department said. The incident occurred on South Michigan Avenue, where crews from Car 2 and Engine 63 of the KFD, along with Police Chief Campanelli and Kenilworth officers, responded to secure the area. Emergency teams raised the low-hanging wires, allowing the road to reopen shortly after. Drivers are reminded to stay alert for potential hazards following similar incidents.

A crash on the Garden State Parkway in Union County has backed up traffic on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 19, authorities said. The crash occurred on the Garden State Parkway northbound near Exit 137 at Route 28 in Kenilworth and Cranford Township, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said. Though all lanes have reopened, according to NJDOT, traffic remains bad, according to a witness at the scene.

Support is on the rise for the family of former New Jersey high school baseball player Nicholas "Nick" Cocchia, who died suddenly on Monday, Aug. 26, according to his obituary on the Rossi Funeral Home website. Nineteen businesses who owe a total of $1.1 million have been barred from public contracting until they pay back their dues, the New Jersey Department of Labor said. R.A. Florio Building Contractors Inc., of Toms River, for example, has been ordered to pay $39,555.57 to the state, according to the department of labor and workforce development. A long-abandoned railroad track that runs through Union County will soon be transformed into a hiking and biking trail, thanks to a $1.5 federal grant. A fire at an auto body shop at Kenilworth caused a roof to partially collapse on Tuesday evening, May 30, authorities said. Pickup Driver Dead, 7 Passengers Hurt In Pre-Dawn Parkway Crash
A 69-year-old pickup truck driver died and his seven passengers were hurt in a crash on the Garden State Parkway Tuesday, June 7, authorities said. Thomas F. Gilbert Jr. was heading south near milepost 140.3 in Kenilworth when he crossed all lanes of travel, causing the van to hit the front left side of the truck around 4 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Cranford Crash
A pedestrian was struck and killed in an early-morning crash Tuesday in Cranford, authorities said. The pedestrian was crossing Springfield Avenue when they were struck by a 51-year-old Kenilworth man heading south and approaching Orange Avenue, in a 2006 Hyundai Sonata, local police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, where they later died. The Hyundai driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
