This story has been updated One firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling a four alarm fire that spread to two homes in Bayonne on Thursday, Sept. 21, authorities said. At 9:49 a.m, firefighters were on scene of a heavy fire in the rear of both 142 and 144 West 5th St., Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. The fire was declared under control at 10:57 a.m., Weaver said. There were no injuries to any residents, while a firefighter was transported to a hospital for treatment of a minor injury, Weaver said. Propane Tank Sparks Bayonne House Fire, 6 Displaced
Six people were displaced and one person suffered minor injuries in a Bayonne house fire sparked by a propane tank Saturday, authorities said. Firefighters arrived to heavy fire and smoke billowing from the third floor of the home at 42 Trask Ave., when they arrived at 12:03 p.m., Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. Companies stretched three hose lines to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses. Firefighters rescued an injured dog and recovered the body of another from a house fire that displaced three people Tuesday in Bayonne. Crews responded to 108 W. 3rd St., where heavy smoke and fire were found on the first floor of a two-story attached building, Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. The fire progressed to a second alarm and three hose lines were deployed by firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Fire Breaks Out At Popular Bayonne Ice Cream Shop Magic Fountain
A fire broke out at popular Bayonne ice cream shop Magic Fountain Monday. Arriving firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the area around the sign attached to the the 1.5-story building at 907 Broadway around 2 p.m., Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. Firefighters deployed two hand lines to extinguish the blaze, which was brought under control in just 13 minutes. No injuries were reported. Bayonne Fire Leaves 19 Homeless, No Injuries Reported
Firefighters worked in frigid conditions Thursday to contain a blaze that tore through the top floor of a three-story building in Bayonne, Chief Keith Weaver said in a statement. Firefighters arrived at 247 Broadway around 1:24 p.m. and saw flames pouring from the top windows of the building. Working from outside the structure, firefighters brought the two-alarm blaze under control in about 40 minutes.
