North Bergen Man Who Struck 2 Jersey City Pedestrians Was DUI, Prosecutor Says A 37-year-old North Bergen man was under the influence of drugs when he struck two pedestrians with his car last year in Jersey City, authorities said. Lawrence Smith was arrested Monday morning in connection with the Nov. 23, 2019 incident, that injured a 50-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
