A local ironworkers union is facing a lawsuit filed by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office alleging discrimination against Black members. NJ Police Chief Admits Coverup of Sex Affair With Subordinate
A retired New Jersey police chief admitted trying to cover up a sexual affair with a subordinate, authorities said. Andrew Kudrick, 50, will be banned for life from public employment and will receive probation instead of prison time in exchange, state Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. Kudrick, of Farmingdale, lied to Howell Township officials about the affair and “threatened to launch an improper internal affairs investigation” of a captain who called him on it, the attorney general said. A confrontation between the chief’s wife and his alleged mistress during a 2021 retirement party …

Mayor Who Passed Out Pantless At Party Needs Alcohol Evaluation, Counseling, Council Says
Following a public apology from Mayor John Roth for a drunken incident that made national headlines, the Mahwah Township Council recommended Thursday night that he undergo an alcohol assessment and receive counseling on township policies and anti-discrimination laws. “The mayor’s conduct on Jan. 10, 2020 is inappropriate and represents conduct unbecoming an elected official,” a resolution drafted by the council in executive session says. The decision came after an investigation by a private attorney and an apology from Roth during the public portion of Thursday’s meeting for getting drunk …

The report didn’t identify the employee, who it says declined to comment. Daily Voice is withholding the name of the employee, who is identified along with her husband…

Fired Teaneck Teacher Accuses Principal Of Hitting On Her, Retaliating When She Refused
A former special education teacher at a Teaneck elementary school claims she was fired after she refused the principal’s sexual advances. The “overly flirtatious” behavior by Whittier Elementary School Principal Pedro H. Valdes III was “disturbing and intimidating at best," Grace Kenny, 38, charges in a sexual discrimination lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Hackensack. Kenny taught Whittier pupils with emotional and learning disabilities for a year and a half before she was let go in May 2018, the suit says. At first, Valdes "lavished praise" on her work and "consistently gave her very h…

Bergen Judge Nixes Sex-Discrimination Suit Filed By Retired Rochelle Park Police Officer
A judge in Hackensack on Tuesday dismissed a gender-discrimination complaint filed by a retired Rochelle Park police officer. Donna Porcaro sued the township, the police department and Police Chief Robert Flannelly two years ago, claiming that she was denied opportunities that her male co-workers got and was the victim of harassment and inappropriate comments in a hostile work environment. She reportedly had been seeking $2.5 million. “I'm just glad after 41 years of as a police officer my name and reputation remains honorable,” Flannelly said after Superior Court Judge Mary F. Thurber tos…
